Isaiah 64
Oh3863 that thou wouldest rend7167 the heavens8064, that thou wouldest come down3381, that the mountains2022 might flow down2151 at thy presence6440,
As when the melting2003 fire784 burneth6919, the fire784 causeth the waters4325 to boil1158, to make thy name8034 known3045 to thine adversaries6862, that the nations1471 may tremble7264 at thy presence6440! the melting: Heb. the fire of meltings
When thou didst6213 terrible things3372 which we looked6960 not for, thou camest down3381, the mountains2022 flowed down2151 at thy presence6440.
For since the beginning of the world5769 men have not heard8085, nor perceived by the ear238, neither hath the eye5869 seen7200, O God430, beside2108 thee, what he hath prepared6213 for him that waiteth2442 for him. seen: or, seen a God beside thee, which doeth so for him, etc
Thou meetest6293 him that rejoiceth7797 and worketh6213 righteousness6664, those that remember2142 thee in thy ways1870: behold, thou art wroth7107; for we have sinned2398: in those is continuance5769, and we shall be saved3467.
But we are all as an unclean2931 thing, and all our righteousnesses6666 are as filthy5708 rags899; and we all do fade5034 1101 as a leaf5929; and our iniquities5771, like the wind7307, have taken us away5375.
And there is none that calleth7121 upon thy name8034, that stirreth up5782 himself to take hold2388 of thee: for thou hast hid5641 thy face6440 from us, and hast consumed4127 us, because3027 of our iniquities5771. consumed: Heb. melted because: Heb. by the hand
But now, O LORD3068, thou art our father1; we are the clay2563, and thou our potter3335; and we all are the work4639 of thy hand3027.
Be not wroth7107 very sore3966, O LORD3068, neither remember2142 iniquity5771 for ever5703: behold, see5027, we beseech thee, we are all thy people5971.
Thy holy6944 cities5892 are a wilderness4057, Zion6726 is a wilderness4057, Jerusalem3389 a desolation8077.
Our holy6944 and our beautiful8597 house1004, where our fathers1 praised1984 thee, is burned up8316 with fire784: and all our pleasant things4261 are laid waste2723.
Wilt thou refrain662 thyself for these things, O LORD3068? wilt thou hold thy peace2814, and afflict6031 us very sore3966?
